At OG Medicinals, we grow a variety of marijuana-based products designed for both recreational and medical dispensaries. We understand that in this fast-growing market, it can be hard to distinguish between all of the products currently available.
Along with our traditional flower-based products, we also offer trim. However, not everyone understands trim: what is it, how do we get it, and why might you be interested in smoking it? In this article, we’ll answer some of the most frequently asked questions that we hear.
What Is Trim?
In order to make sure you’re only getting the highest quality weed, we need to trim the plant once it’s grown. The leaves that are trimmed off plants are referred to, naturally enough, as “trim”.
These materials can actually be smoked, just like the bud, but most people actually prefer smoking bud to the trim itself.
Dry Trim vs. Wet Trim
There are two major schools of thought when it comes to trimming marijuana plants: wet trimming and dry trimming. With wet trimming, you trim the marijuana plant right after it’s been harvested. This means it’s “stickier” than it otherwise would be.
With dry trimming, you dry the plant out before trimming. This allows you to have a cleaner cut.
Some people prefer wet trimming to dry trimming because it’s easier and gives the plant a fuller look. Proponents of dry trimming believe that it gives a nicer, bolder flavor.
At OG Medicinals, we’re always experimenting with various harvesting styles to make sure you’re getting only the best, most potent products available. In our experience, we’ve greatly preferred dry trimming to wet trimming. It may be more work, but we believe in the powerful results.
Sugar Leaves and Fan Leaves
When talking about trim, it’s important to note that there are different kinds of it. One of the biggest distinctions is between sugar leaves and fan leaves. Sugar leaves are the smaller ones near the flowers, while fan leaves are the bigger ones with more edges.
If you’re looking for THC, you’ll want to use sugar leaves. Fan leaves have a variety of benefits, but they only have minimal THC.
What Can Trim Be Used For?
There are a variety of different things you can use trim for. Tea is one of the simplest, most relaxing ways to ingest trim. All you have to do is steep the tea. Then you’ll be able to have a soothing drink to make the day better.
Then there’s cannabutter, which is just what it sounds like: cannabis-infused butter. This makes it perfect if you want to make edible baked goods. If you want to make edibles without using cannabutter, you can also use cannabis oils.
