You may have noticed that already vaped bud (AVB) still looks somewhat like a fresh bud. It’s lost some of its color and its freshness, but it’s certainly a lot more recognizable than a big bowl of ash. One of the biggest reasons people love vaping cannabis flower is that the plant material doesn’t get completely burned up, which means fewer harmful substances for you to inhale. The other great thing about vaping cannabis is that you’re left with AVB, which still has some cannabinoids left in it. Let’s take a look at what you can do with AVB instead of just throwing it all away.
What’s Left in Already Vaped Weed?
Different natural components of your cannabis vaporize at different temperatures. Most dry herb vaporizers run in the range of 315-440°F. The hotter your vape is, the more of the plant will be burned off. Lower temperatures leave more cannabinoids and terpenes behind, which means there are more THC and more flavor left in the plant material. Vaping at low temperatures will also scorch less of the plant material itself, which will lead to a tastier experience.
The greener your AVB looks, the more cannabinoids are left. Most people estimate that 20% or even more of the cannabinoids still remain after the cannabis has been vaped. People who want their stash to stretch a little bit further want to make sure they’re getting all of the cannabinoids they can. Waste not, want not! If you’ve been saving some AVB for a while, you may be interested in smoking it.
Can You Smoke Vaped Weed?
Yes, you can smoke AVB. That’s the short answer, anyway. The longer answer is that this may not be the very best use of your AVB because it just won’t taste especially great. While some people like to roll their vaped weed into a joint or even smoke it out of a bowl, it won’t lead to the pleasant smoking experience you’d get from the fresh flower. This is definitely an option if you’re only interested in getting those last few cannabinoids, but there are other things you can do with your AVB, too.
Cooking With AVB
Since the biggest problem with AVB is that it doesn’t taste very good, cooking it can help. Creating your own cannabis products with your already vaped weed gives you a way to use the entire plant without smoking something that tastes off. You don’t necessarily need to be a master chef or a scientist to do one of the following three things with your vaped cannabis.
1 – Make Edibles With AVB
A lot of people say the most complicated part of making your own edibles is decarboxylating cannabis. Heating your flower in the oven can be tricky because you want to activate cannabinoids without burning them off entirely. With AVB, though, your cannabis is already decarboxylated.
Simply infuse your already vaped weed in oil or butter at a low temperature to avoid degrading the cannabinoids any further. From there, you can add the oil or butter to just about any recipe. We recommend choosing something flavorful to mask the taste of your vaped bud.
2 – Make Hot Drinks With AVB
This is one of the easiest ways to use your AVB. Simply mix the already vaped weed with coffee grounds, tea leaves, or anything similar to that. As your hot drink steeps, the cannabinoids from your vaped bud will be infused into the drink. You won’t even have to alter your normal brewing process.
3 – Make Tincture With AVB
If you don’t want to diffuse your vaped cannabis in oil or brew it into a hot drink, try making a tincture. Simply put your AVB in a container with some high-proof alcohol. Most people mix it with Everclear in a mason jar, then cover the jar and keep it for a while. Shake the jar at least once a day and let it sit for as long as you can wait. A month is certainly long enough, and some people only hold off for a week or so.
Strain your tincture through a coffee filter, fine mesh strainer, or cheesecloth depending on how fine your AVB is. Now you can store your tincture in a dropper if you want to enjoy it under your tongue. Alternatively, you can get creative and mix your tincture into just about any kind of food or beverage.
